Strength as you get older

The single most important thing you can do for your health after 50 is get strong.

From your 50s onwards, muscle mass, bone density, balance and joint health all start to decline gradually — but only if you let them. The good news: sensible strength and mobility training is by far the most effective way to slow, stop or reverse all four.

That's what Kore is built for. Not high-intensity classes. Not extreme diets. Just patient, coached training designed to keep you strong, capable, mobile and independent — for the next 20, 30, 40 years.

Common questions

Frequently asked by over-50s.

Is this really a gym for over-50s?
Most Kore members are between 40 and 70, with many in their 60s. The environment, pace and coaching are all built to suit that stage of life.
I have a knee/back/shoulder issue. Can I still train?
Almost always yes. We work with people bridging physio and full training all the time. Bring any clinician notes to your assessment and we'll plan around them.
I'm nervous about being the least fit person there.
The most common concern we hear — and the least justified. Every member starts somewhere. You'll find the room is full of people quietly working on the same thing you are.
How often do I need to train?
Twice a week is the sweet spot for over-50s. Anything less and you'll struggle to build strength; more can be too much for a body that needs recovery time.
What happens at the free assessment?
A 30-minute conversation with our team. We listen to your goals, ask about any injuries or health concerns, do a light movement screen, and give you an honest recommendation — even if that's 'not right now'.
